How Life Code Is Calculated
One birth date, one consistent Life Code type
A Life Code type is determined only by the year, month, and day of birth. The same birth date gives the same result for everyone. This page explains the calculation rules and how the readings are written from those results.

Information Used in the Calculation
The only input is the birth date. For Four Pillars, Life Code uses the year, month, and day pillars. We do not use the hour pillar because many people do not know their birth time, and we want the same birth date to produce one consistent result.
How the Six Traditions Are Used
Four Pillars
We convert the year, month, and day pillars into sexagenary-cycle signs and count the Five Elements associated with their heavenly stems. The most frequent element becomes the Four Pillars input. If tied, the first element appearing in year, month, then day order is used.
The year changes at Risshun, and the month changes at the sectional terms among the 24 solar terms. On the date of a transition, the new year or month applies from that day. Dates from 2010 through 2027 were checked against the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan's calendar ephemerides in Japan time; calculated values are used for other years. Numerology
We add every digit in the Gregorian birth date and keep reducing to one digit. The master numbers 11, 22, and 33 are kept as-is. This follows the commonly used Pythagorean numerology method for the Life Path number.
Nine Star Ki
The Life Code type uses the birth year's Honmei star. The year changes at Risshun rather than January 1. Monthly fortune readings use the Nine Star at the center of the monthly chart. Risshun and sectional-term dates use the same calendar as Four Pillars.
12 zodiac signs
We determine the sun sign by matching the birth month and day to fixed zodiac boundaries. Actual solar ingress can shift a boundary by about a day from year to year; Life Code uses a simplified fixed-date method and does not model that variation.
Mayan calendar
We use the 260-day Dreamspell (13 Moon Calendar) cycle to calculate the KIN, one of 20 seals, and one of 13 galactic tones. February 29 is treated as Dreamspell's Day 0.0, Hunab Ku: the KIN does not advance and remains the same as February 28.
Biorhythm
From the number of days between birth and the target date, we calculate 23-day physical, 28-day emotional, and 33-day intellectual cycles. The source is the common classical biorhythm model associated with Fliess and others. These cycles do not affect the Life Code type. Daily readings show all three and use them for 30% of the daily score and 10% of the monthly score. The yearly score uses only a fixed neutral value, weighted at 2%, with no daily fluctuation.
Why Combine These Six?
We layer Eastern calendar systems (Four Pillars and Nine Star Ki), Western traditions (numerology and the 12 zodiac signs), and two different cyclical views (the Mayan calendar and biorhythm) to create a more multidimensional reading than any one method alone. This does not claim that one tradition is superior; it places distinct viewpoints side by side.
Conversion to Six Types and Weights
We convert the results from Four Pillars, numerology, Nine Star Ki, the 12 zodiac signs, and the Mayan calendar into scores for the six types: Igniter, Nurturer, Creator, Seer, Liberator, and Harmonizer. The weights are 35% Four Pillars, 25% numerology, 15% Nine Star Ki, 10% zodiac, and 15% Mayan calendar. The top three totals become the Primary, Secondary, and Inner Destiny types. Biorhythm is not included in this type calculation.
When totals are tied, we use this fixed calculation order: Igniter, Nurturer, Creator, Seer, Liberator, Harmonizer. With the same input and calculation order, the result is always the same.
Where Calculation Ends and Interpretation Begins
The sexagenary signs, Five Elements, Life Path number, Honmei star, sun sign, KIN, cycles, scores, and rankings are calculations made under the published rules. The personality descriptions and combination texts are original Life Code readings informed by traditional meanings. They do not make definitive claims about a person's character or events.
October 2026 Calculation Revision
In October 2026, we reviewed the calendar handling and revised the calculations for sectional terms, Risshun, Nine Star Ki, and the Mayan calendar to follow their stated rules. Previously, the Liberator rarely received the highest score from the source values, which created a large imbalance in type counts, so we adjusted the score tables while preserving the central meaning assigned to each type.
As a result, some people now receive a different type than in an earlier reading. We apologize that this explanation came later. The current calculation uses only the birth year, month, and day and is unified so the same birth date produces the same result.
